For Bill Smith helping veterans has always been a passion. “After a few of my buddies died in Vietnam, I realized later in life that I needed to do something to pay back for them,” said Smith during an interview with 12 News, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, AZ.
For years, Smith has been highly involved with helping place veterans into long-term care facilities using the little known Aid and Attendance benefit. During Smith’s interview with 12 News he showed how he helped Korean War Veteran Jim Johnston obtain much needed funds for his living expenses.
Now Bill Smith has a new mission. He’s launched No Veteran Left Behind America. NVLB America’s mission will be much the same. It aims to help connect veterans with funding for long term-care, living expenses and an overall better life. This time Smith wants to reach veterans across the country.
“I really feel like this is my calling. There’s so many veterans in need. Many don’t know about the Aid and Attendance benefit. With my knowledge, I can connect thousands of veterans with much needed services and monetary support. I’m excited about the future,” said Smith.
NVLB is already at work in Washington State. The company has collaborated with Franklin PUD, a public utility district in Pasco, WA to help connect veterans with services.
“We are excited to work with NVLB and their charity American Patriot Service Corp. We have been able to connect both with our partners at Columbia Basin Veterans Center in Pasco. All three organizations serve specific functions that help veterans with their needs. If we can help just one veteran, we feel like the partnership is worth it,” said Franklin PUD Public Relations Director Mike Gonzalez.
“We’re really excited to work with Mike Gonzalez at Franklin PUD. Mike was instrumental in helping promote our initiative when he was a news anchor at 12 News in Phoenix. Mike has a passion for helping veterans and we’re really happy he’s opened the door to NVLB and APSC,” said Smith.
